Who stands behind Yaar Ad

Elad Sadon

Social worker, born 1994. The idea for Yaar Ad was born from a personal experience of parting with a loved one.

The story behind the idea

In 2014, at the age of 20, I lost my grandmother and accompanied her on her final journey. On that day, at the large cemetery in Jerusalem, I felt that something was missing. There were floors carved into the mountain and endless rows of grey concrete. There wasn't a single tree or a green corner to rest in.

It made me wonder: why does the place we visit to remember and find comfort feel so alienating? Why can't parting from life blend with the growth and continuity of nature?

Over the years, through my work as a social worker, I have accompanied many people during moments of crisis and loss. These questions kept coming up. When I started researching, I was surprised to discover that natural, green burial doesn't contradict Jewish Halacha - on the contrary, returning directly to the earth is our original tradition. I realized that with today's technology, like simple GPS mapping, we can preserve memory without building massive stone monuments.

That's how the vision for 'Yaar Ad' was born. My goal is not just to change the way we say goodbye, but to create a living, breathing, green space that allows families to feel a true connection - both to the person they loved and to nature.

If this concept speaks to you - I invite you to join me and help us turn this vision into reality.

What I bring to the table

Social Work

Years of experience accompanying people through sensitive processes - grief, transition, searching for meaning. Understands the real needs of families.

Systemic Thinking

The project crosses domains - halacha, law, ecology, technology, community. The ability to unite them around one coherent vision is the foundation.

Long-term Vision

Yaar Ad is not a product - it is policy. Requires patience, trust-building, and working with institutions. This takes years - and I am here for the long run.
